King’s Cross membership

Regular participation in the life of a church is vital for life. This especially includes attending Sunday morning worship regularly, building friendships in the church body, and using your talents and resources for the common good.

Church membership is a very appropriate way to express church participation to others, to yourself, and to the leaders of the church. Church membership has been practiced by the church since the period of the New Testament. See the article “Church Membership is in the Bible.”

Church membership is for those who hear and believe with their heart the gospel of Jesus and are baptized in the name of the Trinity.

The questions for membership at King's Cross:
first question

Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope save in His sovereign mercy?

second question

Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?

third question

Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?

fourth question

Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?

fifth question

Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

We ask members to attend two King’s Cross Talks (Christian Vocabulary and The Basic Ingredients of a Church) to learn more about the life of King’s Cross. Our pastor schedules monthly Newcomer Lunches (Sunday afternoons) as a time for potential and new members to ask questions around the meal.

We also ask that you allow our elders to lead a short membership interview. This interview usually lasts 30 minutes and gives us an opportunity to learn about your testimony of faith and discuss with you the five membership vows above.
