What does King’s Cross mean?
Our name borrows an image from nineteenth century London. An intersection of three busy roads in North London was marked by a statue of a king, King George IV. Over many years the name, King’s Cross, became known not just as a statue (which is no longer there), but a public intersection where three bustling roads met and spilled into the city.
King’s Cross is a marker in the busy traffic of life. The Christian church is where God’s kingdom touches the world and advances into the world. As a church body, we are a place where Reign and Redemption, Sovereignty and Sacrifice, meet. Publicly. For all to see, and experience.
All other destinations in life gain their true purpose and flourishing by first passing through the cross of King Jesus. It is the place where God’s grace, the promise of salvation, and the relationship of peace and joy, meet. It is the King’s Cross.
