John F. Jones
senior pastor

John has been the pastor of King’s Cross since 2023. He became a Christian during college in Anchorage, Alaska. After marriage he studied literature at the University of Texas (B.A.), moved to Chicago to study theology at Wheaton College (M.A.) and work in publishing. Through teaching Sunday school John sensed a call to become a pastor, studying at Covenant Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Westminster Theological Seminary (D.Min.). John has been a PCA pastor for more than two decades, mostly in the Pacific Northwest. John and Karen have three children. John loves theology, coffee, poetry, art, and very old Italian cars designed by artists with impossible-to-pronounce names.

Peggy Kang
Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Peggy is one of King’s Cross’ two Children’s Ministry Outreach Coordinators. Born and raised in Maryland as the middle of three kids, one of Peggy’s earliest and fondest memories is her grandmother singing hymns around the house and taking Peggy and her siblings to church every Sunday. In high school, Peggy started getting involved in children’s ministry. She claims to have learned much more from the kids than she has ever taught them, including the fact that it is not silly to dance to songs about Jesus—it is cool! In addition to dancing to songs about Jesus, Peggy loves reading and creative writing. Peggy and Sam, her husband of more than ten years, have three children, Elijah, Micah, and Noelle.

Karen Jones
Operations Ministry Coordinator

Karen helps King’s Cross stay organized and effective for ministry. Karen grew up in a (mostly Swedish) community of rice farmers in northern California, cultivated in the faith through godly parents, a faithful church, and missions trips. Karen loves serving others in behind-the-scenes ways. She and John were called to gospel ministry through College Church in Wheaton, Illinois. Her children were born just before, during, and immediately following John’s seminary studies. Karen’s administrative skills were honed in the mortgage industry and education, a large private school in Anchorage, Alaska, and executive support at Covenant College. Karen loves travel, interior design, hospitality, meeting new people, and being outdoors.
